can the IPCMD be used to for tuning manager agent for raid on the GXXX systems.
is the port still 31001
IPCMD can't be used for HTnM Agent for RAID on the GX00 systems. These also require an inband CMD. The IPCMD port is still 31001.
I have a challenge with this.
When the HNAS module becomes available for the GXXX arrays how do we get tuning manager data.
Consider, if the client only want NAS functionality they wont have any need for FC in the environment.
To get tuning manager data they will have to purchase a host with FC cards and connect to the GXXX array.
And what if they have several arrays running as HNAS. Then they will need a FC switch.
This wont go over well with clients.
Considering we now have access to the controllers via IP like the modular I’d suggest tuning manager obtain the information via IP as it does with the modular arrays.
You make a good point. It sounds like you're a VAR or Channel Partner. Might be worthwhile to get in touch with your HDS rep and escalate this issue to the right people.
I already have.
did you eventually get anywhere with this ? I still couldn't find any information but I heard rumours that IPCMD was compatible with Tuning Manager now , is it true ?
You could set up HTnM RAID Agent via TCP/IP nowadays but it has limited capabilities. See the latest HTnM Installation Guide, section "Items to check when collecting performance data by using a TCP/IP connection" for details.
