Can you please help to get me the steps required to follow during migration of HDP to HDT of replicated volumes?
And if there is any precaution which needs to take care?
Thanks in Advance...!!!!
Not all replicated types and states can be migrated. Please see the HCS User Guide, table 9-1 "Migration sources and targets by volume type and state". It tells you which replication types and states can be migrated.
Thanks for your reply.
It's UR which I want to migrate, then what could be the process should follow?
do you really know what your application is doing , because thats really important when you want to migrate the HDP ->HDT , Also what performance class makes up your HDT, I would really suggest that you monitor the performance of the current pool/systems before actually going for HDT, it works for some application and it might not benefit others.
But I guess my requirement is not clear to you, after set all the plan then only came to decission for migration and that's why I need steps for migration.
If you really know process of migrating UR vols to HDT then please share it which would be very appreciating.
As Dang replied before, the chart for volume types/state and whether they can act as migrated source or destination, here you see UR volumes can be migrated only when they are not in COPY/PAIR status, rest you have the Tiered storage manager license , so if they are in appropriate state, you can migrate them.
If you use HCS, this functionality would be available via mobility tab.
Hope this helps !!
Thanks for your quick response....
I have made one action plan for moving forward to migrate UR vols.
I know before migrating I have to split volumes, but I have doubt about journals which have been assigned for replicated volumes.
So can you help me on that area? How do I move journal volumes?
Sorry I haven't moved Journal volumes. The only time i had to migrate stuff, i had to delete the journal volumes.
I think if you need to migrate the journal, you need delete the pairs, create a new journal volumes and recreate the pairs, normally we don't use Pool vol for Journal volumes.
Maybe other folks in community can provide some details.
