What do you recommend as OS platform to run the HCS software on? What are the positives and negatives?
Most of our storage administrators are common with Linux. What do you recommend?
i like to get it on ESX server, with VM, have snapshots/vmotion, and windows for easy for operations manageability. Use rest of ESX resources for something else in storage management.
Although I currently run HCS on Windows 2008, I would have rather installed in on Linux. I work in a secured environment and there is a lot more security application "bloatware" on our windows servers that cause headache.
In my point of view, it's way easier to install it on Windows than on Linux. especially if you want to use Tuning Manager Agents on it as well. For some reason, you would need more stuff on your Linux than you would on Windows.
Tipp for installing Agent for RAID on Linux: do not forget the RMLIB (cost me 2 days ).
ad ha, you got feedback from several members. Does it answer your question? Thanks.
