Im new to HNAS can you please help some one it is urgent for me, thanks in Advance
1: Can we able to add domain user in to HNAS user group? if possible please provide the steps
2: Can we able to create user groups in HNAS?
I understand your requirement now. Unfortunately, AD authentication is supported only for share access, not for management/administration users.
However, if you are using SMU to administer HNAS (not logging directly into nodes), you can use a RADIUS server to authenticate users, both via GUI and CLI. This will give you the ability to track user activity.
Yes, if you configure HNAS to join Active Directory you can use AD domain users and groups to authenticate to an HNAS CIFS share. You can also use 4 existing built-in *local* user groups in HNAS to grant certain privileges to users. I can provide more details, but first please let me know what exactly you are trying to achieve.
I just wanted to follow up on the question you asked. Do you need more details or you have all the information?
Yes required more details actually, in my current organization we are using generic account all users, for all administrative activity (Like FS creation expansion, CIFS administration etc..... Not for Shares access.),with this genericaccount we dont have any logs to track for indidual. we would like avoid this situation. For all the administrator acount should be authorized with AD server. So that user will login with indidual account. For this we have to joing the HNAS in AD. now i would like to know....
1: I have created group in AD server,
2: Now i would like to add that same group in HNAS, How to add the same.?
I created a separate discussion thread for the cluster reboot question you asked here: HNAS cluster reboot
I can give you an overview how you need to proceed.
1.Select the EVS you want to work on
2. Create VVol
check $man virtual-volume add
3. Setup vivol quotas
check $man quota
4.Set the Windows permissions
Check $ man cacls
5.Create the CIFS Vol
Chcek $ man cifs-share add
6.Setup share permissions
$man cifs-saa add
Hope the above steps will help you. Please let us know if you need some more information.
