is it possible to create snapshots using Simpana 10 on HNAS4040 ? NDMP backup working correctly.
Hi, Mario. Commvault does not yet support HNAS with their IntelliSnap snapshot management software. They are looking at implementing this support, but I cannot give you a date.
HI, Rich. I had the same problem with Simpana 11 ?
I'm going to upgrade my backup system to this version.
Correct. Simpana 11 does not yet support snapshots for HNAS. If this is a critical requirement, we have Hitachi Data Instance Director (HDID). It automates snapshots, clones and remote replication for both HNAS and VSP (block storage). It can also be used as a complement to Simpana by mounting a snapshot from HDID onto a VM, and then performing a backup of that VM with Simpana. You can learn more about HDID here: Hitachi Data Instance Director (HDID) - Business-Defined Data Protection | HDS
thanks for your answer. But I see that is not compatible with vSphere 6.5 - this is my VMWare environment
Ah. For storage-based protection (snapshots) on VMware, we have Virtual Infrastructure Integrator (Hitachi Virtual Infrastructure Integrator - Data Protection for VMware vSphere | HDS) It's user interface is a plug-in to vCenter, and was originally designed for HNAS, so this should be what you need. At some point it will become part of HDID.
Thank you again Rich , I will think about these solutions.
