Data protection for large data sets on HNAS

we are seeing our virtual volumes on the HNAS grow and grow. The use of NDMP is great up to a certain point but we are finding large performance requirements each night to cater for the backups. We were hoping there could be simpler methods to use.

Has anyone used backup products such as TSM and NetBackup to perform snapshot backups? I am thinking this could be an efficient method to reduce our backup windows for the 500-600TB of files we need to backup. Archiving is not an option for us. I know Replication Director from Veritas could be supported soon but I am not paying a capacity licence for data protection of a volume this size.
