Reduce Costs and Break Down Data Silos with UCP 6000 for SAP HANA Environments

Hitachi Data Systems announced the UCP 6000 for SAP HANA and SAP S/4HANA at SAPPHIRE NOW 2016 in Orlando Florida this week. The UCP 6000 enables customers to run multiple applications on a single platform and greatly reduce cost complexity and data center footprint while turning data into business insights with the in-memory acceleration of SAP HANA and SAP S/4HANA,


A UCP 6000 configuration is shown below:

All the hardware components can be installed in a single rack. The Compute blades are installed in a CB 2500 chassis with four 520X B2 blades and eight 520H B3 blades. Two of the 520X blades can be configured into an SMP for HANA QA, while the other two 520X blades can be configured as an SMP for HANA production. The 520H blades can be configured for bare metal or VMware production and non-production blades as shown below.

This shows a reference architecture for a 3-tier installation of SAP S/4HANA and SAP HANA database that was validate in the Hitachi Data Systems lab for Production and QA environments. In a 3-Tier scenario, Database and Application servers run on separate operating systems (two different servers), while the presentation layer runs on a separate operating system (the client). The production system was installed as a Highly Available configuration.


The G400 storage array is an enterprise class storage array with 32 16 Gb/s FC ports, that can support a maximum of 1,344 TB of Hitachi FMD flash for highest performance or a tired configuration with a mix of flash and SAS hard drives.
